A quick 30 minute drive from Dublin’s city centre gets you to Powerscourt Hotel, a luxury 5 star hotel operated by the Marriott Autograph Collection. The hotel is located in the beautiful and world famous Powerscourt Estate, as you drive past the green forestry and the rolling hills of the Wicklow mountains you are enveloped in a sense of calm and serenity, leaving all the chaos of the city behind you.
Style: Powerscourt Hotel makes an impressive first impression with its expansive open plan entrance complete with white marble flooring and an eye-catching gold staircase. As you walk in further you can see floor to ceiling windows that allow for a perfect view of the Sugar Loaf Mountain and the gorgeous hotel gardens. The vibe of the décor throughout the hotel can be summed up in one word “regal” with a mix of chandeliers and throne style chairs.
Bedrooms:
Powerscourt Hotel offers 200 rooms and suites, each designed to be a peaceful retreat away for the stresses of everyday life. Rooms range from a classic double room up to the Presidential suite with its own private Jacuzzi. We stayed in a beautiful corner suite overlooking the fountain and the gardens. The suite had its own dining room table and chairs as well as a sofa and armchairs, perfect for relaxing after dinner!
Dining:
The Powerscourt Hotel has three restaurants. The Sika restaurant is the hotel’s fine dining restaurant, however if you are not in the mood for a formal dinner McGills Pub is available for a burger and chips or other casual food options. During the day the Sugar Loaf Lounge is the ideal spot for afternoon tea with it’s terrific views and large comfortable lounge chairs.
Facilities:
Powerscourt is a fabulous spot for any outdoor activity. The Powerscourt Hotel is a few minutes walk from the Powerscourt Gardens, voted number 3 in the ‘Top 10 Gardens of the World’ by National Geographic. In the gardens you can easily hike to the Powerscourt Waterfall, which is the largest waterfall in Ireland. The hotel also boosts a 36-hole champion standard golf course. For those who are more keen on relaxing, like myself, you can simply walk downstairs to the ESPA.
